Paleo-cliff corresponding to the topographic end of Risco de Famara. It is totally disconnected from the current coastline. At its base, it has developed two well-differentiated generations of detrital fans evolving towards glacis on the distal area. In this distal area, the glacis deposits intertwine with wind Jable sand deposits. There are numerous outcrops where we may observe the internal structure of the fans that consist of interspersing of torrential deposits, paleosol and wind sand associated to climbing dunes from the Jable sector. This shows the alternating humid stages developed towards the medium Würm, and the most recent arid stages. The oldest detrital fans have a strongly encalichada surface and are partially trimmed by the erosion that has locally created ravines, such as the one in Maramajo, that establish their reception basins at the eastern back of the escarpment. In some places there are recent lava flows falling down the escarpment and causing local divergences.
The main interest of this geosite is geomorphological and the secondary one is tectonical, sedimentological and paleontological. Its fossils are highly valued in research related to quaternary paleo-climatology. This is a highly geologically diverse area with spectacular outcrops from a stratigraphic perspective.
